Bisbee, on the whole, offers a bounty of character that uniquely provides a feel for the community and its citizens—passionate, creative, and open individuals who are eager to share their talents with the world. So, it’s hard for us to choose only five must-see attractions. After much deliberation amongst the Oliver House staff, these are our top picks for your next visit!
Mining is how Bisbee came to be, and the Cooper Queen Mine was one of the first and most productive copper mines in Arizona. Today, you can tour this once-thriving mine and learn more about the (literal) bedrock of Bisbee and mining history. This mine tour is also a great way to cool off and relax from Arizona’s sweltering summer temps.
Voted one of Arizona's must-see attractions, you won’t want to skip The Bisbee Seance Room. Owner and magician, Magic Kenny Bang Bang will transport your whole family back to the days of yore as you enjoy Victorian parlour magic infused with fun and all the best local folklore.
In the heart of Old Bisbee, you’ll find the longest-running library in the state. Established in 1882, the Copper Queen Library has a rich history. We are proud to say that our historic library has been honored with many local and national awards, including Best Small Library in America. From housing Reverend Pritchard’s historic book collection to providing innovative library services to the community, it’s a must-see for any book- or history-lover!
You may hear locals lovingly refer to this as “the pit,” which doesn’t sound very alluring, but we promise: it’s worth the hype! If you’re heading to Lowell, you can’t miss the site of this open-pit mine from Bisbee’s copper mining heyday.
Lavender Pit was an active mine, producing tons of copper before the industry’s bust in 1974. However, it may be more famous for the rare form of high-quality turquoise, “Bisbee blue,” that you will see replicated throughout the town and in our art galleries.
Lastly, but certainly not least, don’t forget to stroll through Old Bisbee—this is the heart and soul of our little mountain town. Whether you’re looking for a bite to eat, a unique souvenir, or want to explore local artwork, Old Bisbee is the place to be.
Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter a visit to Bisbee won’t disappoint! If you’d like specific recommendations for attractions, dining, or entertainment, please visit our front desk for more information.
